Andrew Craig-Bennett
Deputy General Manager, Cosco and Journalist & Commentator
After attending Cambridge University Andrew Craig-Bennett joined the Standard P&I Club, then moved to Hong Kong with John Swire and Sons where he was responsible for chartering, sale and purchase and newbuildings for their deepsea fleet. Worked for COSCO in Beijing from 1995-2000 as their resident foreign adviser and now looks after its interests in Europe.
Dr John M Doviak
Managing Director, Cambridge Academy of Transport and Course Leader
Graduate in physics from the University of Cambridge. Joined Seatrade in 1974 and served in several senior management positions before founding and becoming the first Director of Seatrade Academy in 1978.
Duncan Dunn
SSY Futures Ltd
Has been involved with derivatives since 1986 both from the broking side and managing funds. This included periods of time with Rudolf Wolff, Union plc and Man Financial.
He is now responsible for Business Development at SSY Futures. SSY have pioneered technical analysis, screen trading and spread strategies. They are now at the forefront of clearing initiatives working closely with LCH and NYMEX.
Martyn Haines
Senior Master Mariner with Clyde & Co (London)
Martyn Haines, Master Mariner joined Clyde & Co in June 2011 from a leading P&I Club where he was a Senior Claims Director handling all types of major casualty incidents and high value claims. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers.
Chris Hayman
Chairman, Seatrade
Chris Hayman has been Managing Director of Seatrade since 1986, and Chairman since 2004. He has been actively involved in the development of the company, including its publishing, conference and exhibition businesses, for general shipping and the cruise industry, as well as waterfront development, the superyacht market and other areas.
He has been involved in the development of the Seatrade Cruise Shipping Convention in Miami since its inception in 1985, and has been active in developing Seatrade’s businesses in Dubai and Singapore; as well as its activities in Europe, Asia, and North and South America. He has also had an active role in Seatrade’s management training activities, based at Cambridge University.
In 2007 he was awarded the John Lancaster-Smith Award for services to passenger shipping.
He has a degree in Modern History from Oxford University and started his career working in radio and television for CBC in Canada.
Nick Holness

After service in the Royal Navy, joined P&O Cruises as Marine Operations Executive, planning and implementing global cruise programmes. In 1994 moved to Anderson Hughes, the ship broking division of P&O Maritime Services, where he ran the bunker desk, later seconded to P&O Group to manage their fuel procurement.

Trevor Law
Senior Vice President, DVB Bank
Trevor Law has been involved in shipping finance for approximately 26 years. Beginning his shipping finance career with Marine Midland in 1982, Trevor was involved in the Northern European and Scandinavian markets before he moved on to Bank of America and Manufacturers Bank where he was primarily responsible for the Greek shipping portfolio.
Trevor has had experience in the shipping community throughout the world and is familiar with many facets of raising finance for ship owners. Apart from being at the forefront of shipping finance and its development, Trevor has a considerable practical knowledge in arranging and the distribution of syndicated and mezzanine debt for large shipping investment programmes. In the mid to late 1980’s Trevor was actively engaged in shipping workouts having been involved in a number high profile cases.
During the 1990’s Trevor was involved in providing debt and equity finance for the shipping community. Much of Trevor’s activities in this time included vessel ownership and operating ships for the companies, which he represented. Consequently, he is familiar with some of the difficulties faced by ship owners and experienced in resolving day-to-day issues in shipping.
At present, Trevor is working for DVB Bank, which is a dedicated transport finance bank. Prior to assuming his present position, Trevor headed up the shipping portfolio for Banque Paribas based in Geneva.
Trevor is a regular lecturer and a presenter at shipping conferences and seminars and designed and wrote a shipping finance course for the Cambridge Academy of Shipping, where he continues to be the course tutor.

Martin Leach
Lloyd's of London
40 years at Lloyds of London (The Insurance Market). Media Relations role during much of this time. Since '98 - lectures at and looks after visitors to Lloyd's.
Simon Lockwood
Executive Director, Marine Division, Willis Limited
Started his career in insurance in 1989 with Sturge Holdings and then joined Jardine Insurance Services (later JLT Risk Solutions). Following time overseas, he moved to the Marine Division and worked mainly for North American and European based Shipowners, specialising in Hull and Machinery and Hull related Insurances. In early 2006 he joined Willis Limited as an Executive Director in the Marine Division.
Jean Richards
Chairman, Quantum Shipping Services
Began her shipping career as Marketing Manager for Seabridge Shipping Ltd and later appointed Manager of Strategic Planning at Gotaas Larsen Ltd. Joined Fairwind Shipping in 1985 and Quantum Shipping in 2004. Specialises in helping banks and financial institutions with problem accounts, offering commercial management and operating advice.
Neil Rokison
Director, Galbraiths
After obtaining a BA (Hons) degree in Economics and Mathematics at Exeter University, Neil Rokison spent several months working at Fearnleys Dry Cargo Department in Oslo before concentrating on Sale and Purchase broking at English White Shipping in London in 1986. Since 1998 Neil has worked for Galbraith's in the Sale and Purchasing Department and was appointed a director in 1998.
Dr Eivald M Q Røren
Former Senior Vice President, Det Norske Veritas AS and President, World Petroleum Congress
MSc civil engineering, Norwegian Institute of Technology and PhD Purdue University, USA. Lifetime experience with DNV including three years with Aker Engineering on offshore constructions. Appointed President of World Petroleum Congress in 2000.
Derek Smith
Development Manager, Southampton Container Terminals Ltd
Served in general cargo and passenger ships before joining OCL in 1973 on container ships. Came ashore as a Ship Planner and gained experience in Tilbury, Greenoch, Rotterdam, Le Harve, Liverpool and finally Dubai. Moved to Felixstowe in 1985 eventually becoming Port Logistics Manager and joined SCT in 1992. Chairman of the UK Association of Private Terminal Operators.
Capt C F Spencer
Managing Director, C F Spencer & Co Ltd
Gained experience with Shell on ships carrying asphalt, LNG, black and white products, chemicals and lube oils as well as the more usual crude. A further period on heavy-lift ships and supply vessels gave him a good basis for his later surveying activities. Established his own company in 1984 and provides ship and cargo surveys for many major charterers.
Dr R Martin Stopford

PhD, London University, previously Group Economist and later Director of Business Development for British Shipbuilders, then Global Shipping Economist, Chase Manhattan Bank before joining H Clarkson in 1990. Author of “Maritime Economics”.
Frank Wall
Frank Wall is Head of the Shipping Policy Division at the United Kingdom's Department for Transport.
He has worked in the shipping area for some 17 years and in that time has represented the United Kingdom at a range of international organisations, including IMO, UNCTAD and UNCITRAL. During his most recent assignment at the IMO, he chaired the discussions on Maritime Security which produced the International Ship & Port Security Code.
Dr Malcolm Willingale

Malcolm is Group Corporate Services Director for the V.Holdings Group which comprises three operating companies: V.Ships, V.Investments, and V.People. V.Ships is the world's largest provider of ship management and related services to a fleet of over 700 ships. Since joining V.Ships he has held a number of senior management positions in areas such as marketing and safety development.
Capt Philip J Wood
Director, Trade & Transport (UK) Ltd
At sea with Blue Funnel Line for 13 years before coming ashore to take a nautical degree. Has been on the Baltic Exchange since 1974 as an owners broker, charterers agent and competitive broker. With Trade & Transport since 1981, first as Chartering Manager, then Director since 1984. Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers from 1999-2001 and Education Committee Chairman of the ICS since 1990.
